Signaling the way the tech industry is shifting when it comes to diversity, Intel has just published a new report detailing the successes and failures of hiring a diverse staff. After setting a goal last year to have 40 percent of their new hires be women or underrepresented minorities, Intel reports have exceeded this number at 43.1 percent.
Even with this goal being met, the company by its own admission still has a ways to go: The staff is currently still 75 percent male and a combined 86 percent white and Asian.
Intel however, sees this as a step in the right direction and has encouraged other tech giants like Google, Facebook, Apple and Microsoft to embrace transparency and give measurable diversity goal.
